21 Lessons I wish they taught in school

21 Lessons I wish they taught in school

You don’t have to settle.

That’s the bonus lesson in this article which is going to give you 21 lessons I wish they taught in school.

I spent 7 years at university and nobody taught me this stuff.

Somehow I figured out how to go from insecure and shy 22 year old me, to 32 year old business owner me with a body I’m super proud of.

Anyway back to settling.

Don’t settle for a body you’re miserable in. You don’t have to. Apply here to change it.

Don’t settle for people just because you have no one else. There are great blessings that come from alone time.

Don’t settle for a mundane life. There is so much more.

Society will try to keep you in a box. Stay curious and don’t be afraid to venture out of it.

Here are 21 other lessons I wish they taught in school.

21 Lessons I wish they taught in school

Lesson #1: If your heart says go then go.

You don’t need to tell everyone what you’re doing, or wait for approval.

Just do it.

Don’t let the opinions of others influence you. They can’t see what your heart feels.

Lesson #2: You should trust your intuition not your brain.

Similar to following your heart, one of the hardest things to do is to learn to trust that feeling in your stomach.

The one that says to go for it, even though it doesn’t make sense at the time.

That feeling that says you can, even though you have no physical proof of it.

Trust that feeling. It’s always right.

Lesson #3: When things get calm, it’s time to sprinkle some chaos into your life.

Others won’t understand what you’re doing or why. That’s ok.

You don’t have to justify your reasons to them.

Chase new levels of comfort by forcing yourself to get uncomfortable.

Growth doesn’t happen from staying in your comfort zone.

Lesson #4:  You won’t figure out what you want by thinking about it.

The best way to know what you want is to learn what you don’t want.

Do anything you feel drawn to.

Don’t stay stuck somewhere in fear of not liking whatever could be.

You won’t know unless you try.

You have to take action on what you think you want to work out what you actually want.

Lesson #5: Stop looking sideways and focus on your own journey.

Looking sideways will keep you from moving forward.

If you feel like you’re not good enough or like your life isn’t working out, stop comparing yourself to others.

Your life is working out for you. You’re simply on a different path and meant to experience different lessons to get you to different places at the right time for you.

Live your own life.

There is no need to look sideways.

Look forward and stay focused on what you want.

Lesson #6: Nothing lasts forever so appreciate everything.

You have to appreciate the hard times too.

They allow you to grow stronger so you can get more out of future good times!

Lesson #7: Daydreaming is not a waste of time.

Some of my best ideas are born when I daydream.

Letting your mind wonder freely is very different to overthinking a decision! That is a waste of time.

Make decisions fast. Daydream daily.

Lesson #8: Think less, do more.

Kinda repeating myself but it’s important.

Overthinking leads to inaction which leads to stagnancy and no change.

Do more. Think less.

Lesson #9: If you’re not living the life you want to live, do something about it!

Life is too short to stay stuck in situations you’re not happy in.

Yes there will be moments in life where you need to do things you don’t want to do.

But these moments shouldn’t be your daily life.

Decide what your ideal life looks like. Start working towards making it happen.

Lesson #10: If you’re not where you want to be yet, keep working.

Patience is a virtue for a reason.

The longer the wait the better the outcome.

Lesson #11: You can’t move forward if you’re attached to your old life.

Let go.

Declutter people, places and things.

Do this regularly. You’ll climb up much faster when you have less weighing you down.

Lesson #12: Fears are probably holding you back in some way.

You also need to let go of your fears.

It’s so common to be scared of rejection or scared of failure.

These fears can be overcome no matter who you are.

You don’t want to be on your death bed saying I wish I took that chance but I was too scared.

Overcoming fears you never thought you could is one of the most fulfilling feelings.

Do this by doing the very things that scare you.

Lesson #13: Improving yourself is not a journey with an end date.

Once you get to your goal, you’ll realise that there is even more you can achieve.

Don’t put limits on what’s possible.

Keep aiming to be a bit better every day in some way.

Enjoyment is in the journey. Life gets boring real fast if you don’t have things to work towards.

Lesson #14: Investing in your growth is never a bad idea.

Invest in yourself and you’ll be amazed at how much your life changes for the better.

The lessons will last forever.

Investing in superficial stuff is silly. It doesn’t last and it won’t solve your problems either.

I’ve spent $6000 plus per year on coaching and courses since I finished university.

I don’t regret a single cent but I do regret buying most of the possessions I have and never needed.

Lesson #15: You are worth it.

Full stop.

You don’t need anyone else to validate this.

Only yourself.

Lesson #16: Believe in yourself even when no one else does.

You know what you’re capable of better than anyone else.

If you don’t believe in yourself you won’t do what you need to do to reach your goal.

You don’t buy a ticket for the lottery each week because you don’t believe you’ll actually win.

It’s the same with your life.

Believe you can and you will.

Lesson #17: Food is fuel and there is no need to be scared of it.

If you need some convincing read this article here.

Don’t be scared of food. Life is too short.

I spent way too many years of my life being controlled by my fear of food.

Like any fear- it can be overcome if you’re willing to work on it.

Lesson #18: Don’t stop.

Even if you don’t know what you’re doing or how exactly you’ll get to your goal.

Taking action creates the path forward.

Lesson #19: Uncertainty is life.

Don’t stay in a false sense of security because you’re scared of the unknown.

Nothing is certain.

You may as well live your life how you want to.

Lesson #20: Make your future self proud.

You don’t like it when someone lets you down.

It feels even worse to let yourself down.

Do things now that the person you want to become would be proud of.

Don’t do it for other people’s praise.

Do it to make yourself feel good.

Lesson #21: Live with an open heart.

“‘What happens when people open their hearts?’…

‘They get better.’”

-Haruki Murakami

There will be people who break your heart but you’ll come back stronger than ever as a result.

So it’s not a bad thing.

Love teaches you lessons that you get to keep for life.

Don’t be afraid to love. The world needs more of it.

Bonus Lesson #2:

The key word in these 21 lessons I wish they taught in school is “do”.

You won’t get anywhere by reading more content and doing nothing with it.

Motivation feels nice but what feels even better is following an exact plan and watching your life change for the better.
